Dambound - Prototype
Gnaw wood. Let it drift. Find your way upstream.
Dambound is a puzzle game about a beaver finding its way back upstream—one carefully placed bite at a time.
Cut tangled wood into useful shapes, release the pieces into the current, and let them catch against rocks and one another. When a dam holds, the crossing calms: reach the next bank and keep going.
This early prototype has 10 connected puzzle areas, covering wood shapes, narrow passages, river bends, and the order in which you release each piece. A full run takes about 10–20 minutes.
Controls
- WASD / Arrow keys — Move and swim.
- Left click — Walk toward a location, log, or joint.
- E — Gnaw a nearby joint.
- Space — Release nearby held-back wood.
- Z — Undo.
- R — Restart the current area.
- H — Show a hint for the current area. Try without it first.
- Right click — Stop walking.
- After the dam holds, use the on-screen button to walk to the next bank.
Before you play
- Desktop keyboard and mouse recommended.
- Placeholder visuals and no sound yet; the final look will be different.
- Progress is not saved. Refreshing or closing the page resets your run.
- This is a gameplay prototype, not a finished game.
Help shape the next version
I’m especially interested in where the controls or the puzzle rules stop being clear.
If you get stuck or hit a bug, please leave a comment with:
- The area number
- What happened
- Whether you used H
- Your browser
Thanks for helping me test Dambound!
